How to Prepare for a Marine Survey
In preparation for a survey as well as “sale prep” it is wise to present a clean vessel, remove all gear that is not included in the sale, have all service and ownership records available for inspection.
Notify marina or boat yard that a marine survey will take place on a specific day and arrange permission for the surveyor to enter the yard and board the vessel. Schedule haul out and have a vessel operator on stand by for the sea trial. Check the tide chart if water level is a factor in your area. A sea trial is not always a requirement in all types of surveys but it usually allows the buyer/owner insight and information not found on a static inspection.
What We Can Do For You
This is the most comprehensive type of inspection, and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel.
This inspection is performed to gather enough information to justify or determine the fair market value of the vessel.
We can determine the cause, extend and loss related damage and can recommend repairs and review estimates.
This inspection is performed so that the insurance company can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk.
